In Case You Missed Skyterra Orientation…

Skyterra’s Pillars of Wellness

At Skyterra, we believe that everyone deserves the skills and mindset to live a healthy life. You will find classes offered every day that are focused on these five pillars:

Your Culinary Experience

Our culinary vision is to create an experience that supports you on your wellness and/or weight loss journey. In our kitchen, we utilize farm-to-table, locally sourced cuisine that is relatable, transfers home, and nourishes you within your individual preferences and needs. We also ensure that the amount of food you’re eating nourishes and sustains your energy.

We create your meals on this specific formula, known as the Skyterra Plate:

Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Take a seat anywhere in the dining room, and one of our team members will take your order. Lunch and dinner are selected by menu slips (above right) that you’ll find next to your placemat in the dining room that morning. Lunch is hosted at noon and dinner at 5:30 p.m.

If you are not able to join us in the dining room, we do not want you to miss a meal and are happy to prepare your meal for pick-up. If you do require meal pick-up, please let us know as soon as possible. At this time, we do not offer meal delivery. If there are extenuating circumstances and you cannot attend a meal or pick up your meal, please speak with Guest Services and we will deliver your meal to your porch or refrigerator.

The recipes to the meals that we provide here at Skyterra (and beyond!) are available on SkyterraAtHome.com. In addition, we have a recipe wall near the classrooms where you can find some of our past guests’ favorite recipes.

Kitchen Safety

  • Service animals: We honor our guests visiting with animals. If you are visiting with a service animal, they are welcome to accompany you into our facilities. Per the North Carolina Department of Health, they must stay under the table or next to you in our dining room. They may not be at table level. Service animals are the only animals allowed in buildings other than lodges and cottages. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • Kitchen doors: For your safety and per health department policy, we cannot have guests enter the kitchen. If you need us, give us a wave at the big kitchen window and we will come to you! If we are not in the kitchen, check the teaching kitchen to the right.
  • Beverage and snack bar: At our beverage bar, we have a fridge that holds an assortment of dairy/non-dairy products for your coffee or tea as well as a variety of snacks. Feel free to use/take anything that you’d like and let us know if you need anything additional. Please return any milk to the fridge when you are finished. This fridge is still under our health code so we cannot store any leftovers.
  • Timeliness: Please try to be on time for meals so we are able to best accommodate all needs in a timely manner.
  • Speak up! Do not hesitate to speak up if there is anything you need.

Your First Day

We offer an optional screening before breakfast on Monday morning. This includes blood pressure measurements (best to avoid coffee for most accurate reading), a mobility assessment and a full-body composition analysis on the InBody machine. Please wait in the lobby.

We invite you to then attend the InBody Review at 11:30 a.m. to gain more information about your InBody results. At 1 p.m. you will either:

  • Attend a Planning Session where you’ll meet individually with a health coach to review your results and plan your week based on your specific goals
  • Attend a Return Guest Planning session or
  • Attend a LoseSmart Planning Session.

There are three crucial classes that we highly recommend that you attend on Monday, as they are the foundation of the Skyterra philosophy and will set the stage for success:

  1. Connect: This signature class involves gentle stretching, mobility work, and breath work
  2. Move Well Strength: Learn the essential functional movements
  3. Inspired Intentions: This signature lecture acts as a goal-setting workshop for your Skyterra stay.

FYI On Classes…

Please use the binders in the Main Building to sign up for specific activities and outings, view class and hike descriptions, etc.

Each recreation experience and/or excursion has a sign-up sheet. Please help us by keeping it up to date by removing your name if you decide not to attend. Paid excursions have a cancellation window and can be 24-48 hours before an event,. If you cancel outside of this window, you will be charged the full amount for the excursion, unless we can fill the slot with another guest.

End of Your Stay

On the Thursday before your departure, our team will reach out to you to ensure we have your appropriate flight information and dates for departure. We will also ask you about a travel-friendly meal.

We encourage you to attend Your Home Plan on Friday where we’ll guide you as you make a plan for maintaining your newfound healthy habits at home and learn about our free resources on SkyterraAtHome.com.

If you would like to re-screen on the InBody machine again before you depart, you will have the option to do so on Saturday morning and then attend Composition Clarity to understand your results.

On Sunday, we ask all departing guests to have your bags packed and either on the porch or in your car by 10 a.m. You are welcome to join classes, meals, and use the natatorium, spa, etc.
