The LoseSmart Approach to Stress Management
Stress Management
Learning how to control and manage the stress in your life is one of the most important changes you can make during your stay at Skyterra. Our goal is to provide you with the coping skills and techniques you need to practice healthy stress management long after you leave. During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to attend lectures on building boundaries, cultivating gratitude and reclaiming your body. Stress-reducing experiences include creative arts and journaling classes, mindful-eating experiences and outdoor walks and hikes. You’ll also have access to confidential and emotional support during your stay when you schedule a private session with one of our licensed clinical therapists. Together, we will work to find a structured path that translates to improved stress management upon your return home. Our hope is that aspects of the stress-free environment we provide at Skyterra can be woven into your life at home using the lifestyle changes you learn here.
Self-Care: Cultivating Mindfulness
Discover the joy and power in mindfulness, and the importance of routines including structured meals, a healthy diet and consistent sleep. At Skyterra, we know that external change cannot happen if internal care isn’t consistent. During your stay, we’ll guide you to strengthen the connection among your mind, body and soul. In learning self-compassion and through dedicated time for self-care, you’ll increase awareness and gain a clear understanding of mindfulness. You will have the option to participate in movement that sparks joy and relaxation, including yoga, Tai Chi, mindful walks and mobility classes. In addition, we offer relaxing spa and massage services to help you unwind, as well as calming and grounding breathwork to aid in stress reduction.
Sleep
Getting adequate, quality sleep is one of the most important components of a healthy weight loss plan. Research has shown that not getting adequate, routined sleep can reduce the amount of weight lost, encourage overeating, discourage consistent movement, and hinder motivation. Through lectures and coaching, we’ll teach you about how to properly wind down at night and work with you to create a plan to remove roadblocks and help make sleep habitual and consistent.
